Borneo, Modang or Bahau Dayak
A very unusual Hudoq mask from Kalimantan or Borneo. This mask at 19" is larger than most Hudoq style masks of it's kind. it is also unusual in that the mouth is open with the tongue displayed while most hudoq masks show the mouth closed with the teeth clenched in almost a grimace. The graceful style of carving probably associates the mask with the Bahau or Modang Dayak tribes which are known for their "higher" art styles.
The attched ears and fangs are missing.
